Deaconess Alicia Jane Stanislaus (nee Moxey)

A Time to Be Born
Alicia was born on October 18, 1939, in the peaceful settlement of Rock Sound, Eleuthera to the late Willard and Winifred Moxey.

A Time to Learn
Alicia received her early education at the Rock Sound Public School. After relocating to Nassau, she attended evening classes at C.I. Gibson School where she obtained her Bahamas Junior Certificates.

A Time to Work
At the age of 20 years (three years following the death of her mother), Alicia relocated to Nassau. She commenced employment with the Ministry of Tourism. She later joined Island Merchants Limited, simultaneously working at the Nassau Beach News Stand at night and on weekends. After 17 years with Island Merchants Limited, she joined Butlers and Sands Limited where she remained until her retirement in 1994. After her retirement, she opened Rosie’s Convenience Store located on Palm Tree Avenue, Coconut Grove and operated the store for 27 years until her health began to fade in late 2021.

A Time to Love and Embrace
In 1960 Alicia married the late Errol Stanislaus. As Alicia often said, the fruit of her womb is blessed and God blessed her with seven children, two of whom predeceased her. She was always a great provider for her children and worked zealously both night and day to ensure that she could assist her children in every way that she could to make life easier for them. She was an excellent cook and ensured that her children had a home cooked meal every day despite her working two jobs.

She was a woman of prayer and often encouraged her family and her customers to trust God and pray always. She was God’s hand extended and showed love and compassion to many hurting and needy people. When you entered her store, she was either reading her Bible or doing crossword puzzles. Interestingly, she had won several cash prizes for her Nassau Guardian crossword puzzle submissions. She even kept a notebook where she recorded the date and age of every murder victim and traffic fatality for the entire year, which was one of her prayer focuses.

A Time to Die
On January 19, 2023, God saw it fit to call his angel home. She is absent from this body but present with the Lord!
